MuzicManiac Envelope Sampler for COMMODORE 64 Read Me IMPORTANT. Always keep this Readme in the same directory with the MuzicManiac program. Lose it and using the program will be very difficult because MuzicManiac Envelope Sampler has NO internal menus, only a few screen prompts. The Envelope Sampler is very similar to the MuzicManiac Beta2 program. Users should refer to the Beta2 Read Me file and the Script Writer Screen Guide for operating instructions. This file will not duplicate the information in those files, only add new information relevant solely to the Envelope Sampler. Why does MuzicManiac have two separate programs? It doesn’t, there is only one useable program, the mzmBeta2. MuzicManiac program development diverged after the Beta-One. The last large tract of RAM became swing space, used to develop many features quickly by avoiding a program consolidation until the very end of development. The mzmBeta2 has Load-Save and Print routines in the swing RAM space, the Envelope Sampler (which is technically mzmAlpha3) has the Envelope Sampler, various Repeat functions, and Transposition routines in the swing RAM space. (Yes there is an Alpha4, and Alpha5 with different features.) You can read more on this subject in the Programmer’s Note. (programmersnote.html) Why can’t I just use the Envelope Sampler if it has more features then the mzmBeta2 program? Because the Envelope Sampler can not Save your work, or Load and Print music scores, and it is also still Alpha code. It is included in this release of MuzicManiac solely for the Graphic Envelope Sampler. The mzmBeta2 will help music students learn How To Read and Write Music Script, but it stops short of providing the student with exposure to electronic or computer music. The graphic nature of the Envelope Sampler will give the student a visual insight into computer music and provide dramatic impact from the first use. The student will have to copy down the envelope setting for their designs and manually re enter the data in the mzmBeta2 program. But, if a picture is worth a thousand words, the graphic Envelope Sampler is an entire book unto itself. ***CHART OF KEYS*** Features of Envelope Generator Beyond the mzmBeta2 The top 3 Keys, Space Bar, Cursor Right, Cursor Left are for the Sampler. The other keys are additional features to the mzmBeta2. No Load-Save-Print Features. KEY ACTION REMARKS
